FAQ
Are your handmade products natural?
The products I make from scratch are as natural as I can make them. While I use natural ingredients where I can, I also use some ingredients that would not be found in nature (for example, the emulsifiers, thickeners and preservative in my Nurse's Hand Cream). Non-natural or synthetic do not necessarily mean "bad." Just as not everything in nature is safe, not everything synthetic is unsafe.
How do you scent your body products?
Some of my products are made with no added fragrance, and have the natural scents of the ingredients they are made with (for example, Nurse's Hand & Body Butter has the natural scents of cocoa butter and virgin coconut oil).
For the body products I add fragrance to, I use essential oils and/or fragrance oils. The fragrance oils I use are manufactured for cosmetic product use. Fragrance oils can be natural or non-natural. Natural fragrance oils are derived entirely from plants and tend to have a lighter scent, whereas non-natural fragrance oils tend to have a stronger scent. I have chosen to use mainly natural fragrance oils in my products, though I do use a few non-natural ones, depending on the scent I'm going for (for example, I haven't yet found a natural fragrance oil that allows me to create my cranberry-balsam scent for soaps in winter).
